"The Bulletin wishes Lane, and all who have gone and are going, the most complete success. It has not hesitated to say straight out, in the most sufficient words, that it thinks the scheme unpromising to the verge of insanity. For doing this it has, of course, been regarded as an enemy by the pioneers, or deserters. But it will wait the verdict of this ripe experience, and rejoice with them if its warnings prove to be misplaced."
